Micron Exhaust Reviews

Micron Beta Carbon Race Exhaust for the Kawasaki ER-6 from

"Micron has launched a race exhaust for the Kawasaki ER-6, in the shape of the Beta silencer, which is designed to fit the original pipework. It adds 3bhp throughout the range, and a futher 3.5bhp at full power. It also reduces weight by 5kg." Read the full review at Motorcyle News

Micron Beta Carbon Race Silencer for the Honda Hornet 600 from The Hornet's Nest

"Treat your ears to this. At last, a decent aftermarket can from Micron. Loud and fruity, this pipe is the same as the ones used on some of the Hornet Cup race bikes. Micron have designed the pipe to fit the Honda Hornet perfectly. They are available in both carbon fibre and alloy finishes. The carbon fibre version is 50 percent lighter than the original Honda exhaust and better still, both pipes can boost power in the mid-range by up to 3bhp! They're pretty fruity too. So much so that there is a worry that they may not be road legal in the UK. And you care?"

Micron End Can for the from MCN

"Aftermarket exhaust makers have been slow off the mark in producing cans for Triumph's 675 Daytona. But Micron are on e of the first, with these road and race cans to replace the bulky original silencer. They save 1.6kg and 3.8kg respectively and add between 2-3bhp across the rev range without the need to alter fuel injection settings, although Micron says some adjustment would be beneficial to maximise gains. Stainless, carbon and titanium sleeved versions are available. The road-legal silencer also features a removable baffle."

GP Style Short Silencer with full system on Suzuki GSX-R750 2006 from

"This is a Micron full exhaust system, with Serpent Hydratech headers and a GP-style stubby silencer. This little beauty is neat, light and bloody loud. Fitting is pretty straightforward. It keeps the pillion pegs and there’s no need to alter the fairing, so it scores a bit higher than the Yoshimura system. Weighing it back to back with the stock system reveals a weight loss of around 6kg – a mighty chunk of weight. That’s down to the stock under motor silencer being made of black painted pig iron and containing a massive catylst and exhaust valve gubbins. The Micron replaces all this with some laughably minimalist hydroformed header pipes and a skimpy straight through silencer. The leaflet says it complies with 107dB race limits, but its almost terrifyingly loud through town on full chat."

Micron Hydratech Full System on Yamaha YZF-R1 2004 from

"Quicker than you can grab the keys for your new bike, Micron has released these Hydratech Serpent race ipes and race silencers for the 2004 Yamha R1. As used in BSB and WSB, the “D” hsaped downpipes optimise space, allowing a larger corss-section of pipework to be used in the space available (conventional, round pipework with the same cross-section takes up more room). A high pressure water forming process means thinner, lighter pipe walls than conventionally shaped ones. Micron claims an average power increase of up to 7 bhp over standard"

Micron Beta Titanium Oval Race Silencer on Honda CBR600RR 2003 from

"This little beauty of a can underlines the improvements Micron has made over the years in its design and quality. Its an extremely handsome anodised titanium silencer, with a link pipe and fittings. Big Al has fitted one and reports that it is a breeze to fit, makes the same power as an Akrapovic can (about 4bhp up on standard) and looks pretty good too. Best of all, it weighs just over half of the standard pipe – a about 2.8kg versus 5.5kg."

Micron Titanium End Can on Yamaha YZF-R6 2003 from

"It sounds much better and hasn’t negatively affected the low-rev fuelling which is a serious plus. There’s a more ominous burble on tickover rising to a metallic rasp and proper yowling at 12,000 revs. Its not ear-bleeding, cop-annoyingly loud but I can’t believe its road legal. However, that’s what the stamp seems to say, so its hats off to Micron for pulling that stunt off. Since the dyno curve on the stock can pinpointed a bit of a dip at around nine thousand revs, the addition of the Titanium Oval can will no doubt mean that a bit of smoothing out of the fuelling will be required."

Micron Stainless Steel End Can on Suzuki GSX-R1000 2005 from

"Yet another upgrade has been readied for your 2005 GSX-r1000, this time in the can department from Micron. The titanium can is the high-level race version, while the carbon one is the road legal option. Both come in a choice of finish – stainless steel, carbon fibre (in classic black, blue or red) titanium and coloured titanium. All the silencers come complete with a stainless steel tapered connecting pipe. Micron claim performance gains of up to seven horses over standard, and a weight saving of up to 2.5 kgs. Lose weight and gain power? All good"

Micron Serpent Race System on Yamaha YZF-R1 2004 from

"The Micron Hydratech Serpent pipes and race silencer, as used in WSB and BSB, are this month’s biggest bolt-on. We left the EXUP valve wired in to keep the ECU thinking its there. Mark then bolted the system loosely in place at first to make sure it all fitted correctly., before nipping things up. The four-into-two-into-one-into-two tool a little bit of persuading at the four-into-two junction but nothing some elbow (and some grease) couldn’t rectify. The pipes cost £499.99, the cans from £309.99. Max power is up from 149.0bhp at 12,630rpm to 153.92bhp. Max torque increased from 70.93ft lb to 72.71ft lb at 9,880rpm"

Micron Full System on Yamaha YZF-R6 2004 from

"The end can added a couple of horsepower and the full system added some more. It sounded great as well – plus it had a CE approved road stamp. These days you’ve got to bear these things in mind it seems. I did hear from a reliable source that a full Akrapovic system was a bit better at releasing horses higher up the ev range but its costs more, is not road legal and, be honest people, how much time do you spend at 12,000 revs plus?"

Micron Ultralite End Can from

"When Micron calls a can Ultralite, it doesn’t mess around. It weighs in at just 1.25kilos, which is incredibly light, thanks to titanium sleeve and clever hi-flow internal design. £350 for a can of this quality isn’t a king’s ransom either."

Micron Delta Road Legal End Can from

"The next time you’re pulled you can point to the ‘road legal’ tag which graces the new Delta street legal silencer from Micron. It has a street legal insert (which can be removed) to keep noise down, and usual power gains are generally achieved as well. It weighs less than standard and looks the business."

Micron Zeta Ultralite End Can from

"British firm Micron is launching its lightest ever race cans – made from titanium they weigh just 800g. They comply with race event noise limits, but will have you in trouble at road side checks and MOT test stations. The cans are available for most modern sportsbikes, including the ones with underseat exhausts, and fit onto standard pipework. Micron claim a “substantial power increase”, but the gain depends on your bike."

Micron Serpent Titanium Complete System from

"Micron’s patented system is now available for new models such as the 07 R1 and the GSX-R1000K7 as the company develops it for all new models that ‘are likely to go racing’. The hydroformed pipework, the shape of which is unique for every model they’re developed for, is available separately for £499.99 and the 800g ‘ultra lite stubby’ 350mm long silencer for £309.99. The end can is also available in a 450mm-long version, giving increased silencing (but only slightly we suspect). Micron say the system has been designed to give maximise gasflow and, along with the link tube, the entire system weighs a mere 2.8kg."
